Question by Ms.Rx: what are the disadvantage in illegal gambling?
this coming February is our debate, and our topic is about gambling. I just need some help, because I don’t know where to start. All I Have to do right now is gather some information.

Most governments hate it for one very good reason. If the gambling is illegal, nobody pays taxes on any winnings. Therefore the government loses revenue.
Take Las Vegas where gambling is legal. If you win over a certain amount, the casino gets your information and reports you for taxes. The government gets its revenue share.
Also, there’s a stigma associated with gambling- that in encourages/promotes other vices. Prostitution, liquor (drinking), and violence have all been associated with it. I don’t know if there are hard links between all these vices to gambling, but this might be something your research should uncover.
