Question by John W: What does a bookmaker do when too much money is placed on a specific event?
I gather that the odds will drop orthe bookie may spread his risk, but if someone can be specific in their answer to what actually happens it would be greatly appreciated.

either move the line or the odds so the team not being bet on looks more attractive or “lay off” some bets which means the bookie bets with someone else so that he collects winnings on the team everyone is betting on also
