I don’t know sh*t about most gambling.
Can you win thousands by betting Black or Red on roulette.. or do you have to bet numbers?

Red and black pay even money. If you bet , you will win .
Single numbers pay 35 to 1. If you bet , you’ll win 5.
In the long run, the odds are exactly the same. If you play long enough, whether you play a single number or a color you will lose the same amount of money.
If you want to make a quick hit and run, you have to decide whether you want a big payout on a longshot (1 in 38), or a small payout on closer to even bet (18 out of 38).
Edit: The house edge in roulette is 5.26% no matter whether you bet single numbers or red/black, or even/odd, or a column, or 6 numbers.
